#25. Means of transportation : umm…no , I don’t miss my car..thanks for asking :D

Seriously though, taking the bus and the vaporetti can’t be any funner. When I say fun though, I mean convenient XP. It’s so cheap and it gets you to where you need to go. <3 thank you public transportation.

#27. My fondamenta and my neighborhood… I’m gonna miss how calm my area was. How all the old people come out at the crack of dawn to go buy stuff. How there was a bar conveniently place outside my palazzo. How the facoltà was literally a 3 minute walk from my house. How the supermarket, train station and bus station were no more than 10 minutes away…o how I love Cannaregio <3

(photos are by me of course, Tina) <3

Numero 28: le montagne. I loved those days when I walked to class and was able to see the mountains in the distance…beats the hobos in Atlanta ;)

#30. sunsets
one of the things I absolutely love most about Venice are the sunsets….i mean..WOW. The best thing in the world (especially during exams) was getting out of the library all stressed out and just seeing how the sky was on FIRE. It reminded me to always just take a deep breath and appreciate what’s around you because tomorrow is another day. <3

Books upon books.

Today is …oh who am I kidding, I don’t know how many days it’s been since I’ve started studying nonstop. My first exam is coming up on Tuesday the 17th. Not excited, but I can only hope for the best. My days are starting to be numbered, although I don’t know the exact number since I haven’t had my flight confirmed yet. I’m thinking though, that once I have about 30 days left, I’m thinking of putting an entry of the 30 things I love about Venezia. A sort of commemoration for the place that’s been my home for the past 10 months. *Sigh* it’ll be a bitter-sweet departure. Any who, back to the books. For the new ATLANTIS students … I’ll put some more info up soon!

Wrappin’ things up…

Well the semester is officially over, which means that anti-social Tina returns once again. My first final for the semester is on the 17th of May, and I’m pretty nervous. My study habits have improved drastically since the beginning of this semester. I’m hoping it shows through my exam scores. At least I know that once I take the exams, that I have done the best that I could do. This last weekend I had a lot of fun and have now decided to postpone my fun until after exams are over.

In other news, the Pope came to Venice this weekend and his boat went down the canal in front of my house…pretty awesome. Any who, don’t have too much to say, but I’ll leave you with this: in the words of Journey, “Be Good To Yourself” during this next couple weeks! <3 Buono Studio, Tutti!!

A few highlights so far…

Doing the ATLANTIS program so far has really been a great learning experience. It’s seriously taught me how to study and concentrate more. I almost can’t wait to go back to Georgia State because after going through exams and lectures here, it’s seriously going to be a BREEZE when I get back…at least that’s what I hope :)

I know that there will be a new group that will be coming in next year, and I know for a fact that it will definitely be a smoother ride for them in comparison to us. Despite the slight envy I have that they get to start out fresh here at Ca’Foscari, I am extremely excited for them, and I hope this entry to be a little helpful.

Semesters and how they work:

First off, (click here for 2010-2011 calendar) the semester starts off in about mid-September and are divided into “periods.” For example, you the 1st semester has period 1 and period 2; the 2nd semester is period 3 and period 4. Each period is about 6 weeks long. For instance;

 • Period 1 is from : 20/09/2010-06/11/2010
 • Period 2 is from : 08/11/2010-23/12/2010

Now, classes are worth 6 cfu and 12 cfu. Courses worth 6 cfu are only one period long and you can expect to take the exam (or “primo appello”) after the 1st period ends, which is why there is a sort of one week break in between. For example, after taking “Introduction to Law,” in the 1st period, my exam was on November 5. The other courses I took that were worth 12 cfu are two periods long. So I took those exams during the exam period in January. YES that is right, you don’t have exams before christmas break. They give you about a month off, and it’s basically so that you study to be prepared for the January exam period. (this year exam period started 10/01/2011-29/01/2011)

EXAMS

I will now explain how exams work here. Every course has one exam at the end of it. The exam is scored on a scale of 1-30 (passing is between 18-30). If you get a “30 e lode” (low-deh), you are pretty damn exceptional :) . During the major exam periods (which are at the end of each semester), you have TWO chances to take an exam for that one class. Basically, the exam period is 3 weeks long because after you take the exam, the professor posts the results and if you either;

 • Failed
 • want a better grade
 • want to do it again for the hell of it ( i don’t recommend this)

You have enough time to RE-review and take the “2nd appello.” So if there is one piece of advice that I can give to the next group…USE YOUR TIME WISELY and be sure to study as the class goes on…THERE IS NO ROOM FOR CRAMMING…IT IS NOT GEORGIA STATE.

SPEAKING OF STUDYING, I actually have to get back to reading “European Labour Law,” so if you have any more questions, feel free to e-mail me! (croman3@student.gsu.edu)

A presto!

Cristina

PS: I loooove Venice, and knowing that my time here is coming to an end, makes me a little sad inside. <3
